Robert Blazej, PhD — Co-founder and President
Robert earned a BS in Molecular and Cell Biology and a PhD in Bioengineering, both from UC Berkeley. Robert has worked on genetics and genomics for more than 10 years, contributing to the canine, fly, and human genome projects before turning to development of the miniaturized DNA sequencing technologies that inspired Allopartis' core technologies.

Charlie Emrich, PhD — Co-founder and CSO
Charlie moved to silicon valley after receiving his BS in Glass Science from Alfred University to work in microelectronics. He switched gears from materials science to biology, receiving a PhD in Biophysics from UC Berkeley for work on miniaturizing proteome and genetic analysis.

Nick Toriello, PhD  — Co-founder and VP Operations
Nick received a BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Arizona
and worked as a chemical engineer for Dow and Motorola before returning to grad school at UC Berkeley where he received a PhD in Bioengineering for work he did on single cell gene analysis.

Richard Cohen, PhD   —  Scientist, Director of Analytics
As Allopartis’ first hire, Rich is a key member of our team. He leads the analytical testing group that quantitates and validates AlloScreen results. Rich received his PhD in Bioengineering from UC San Francisco for his research on engineered transport of DNA therapeutics to the cell nucleus. Rich brings expertise in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, bioconjugation, and assay development.
